From time to time, a little help is needed to keep the lights on, keep warm in the winter or cool in the summer. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is designed to assist eligible households in meeting the rising cost of home energy.

The Home Weatherization Program is created and designed specifically for lower income families to help provide more energy efficient homes.

Transitional Housing is available for individuals and families who are in transition from temporary to permanent housing, due to a major crisis beyond their control.

Home Gardening *
Every year during the week of Good Friday, we launch our Home Gardening Program to promote self-sufficiency. We encourage individuals and families to plant a home garden to supplement dietary needs. Call and make your appointment today! *(Program not available for 2025)
Qualified applicants will receive a monetary voucher which may be used to purchase gardening seed, vegetable plants and/or fertilizer from participating vendors.

Budget Counseling
Our goal at Community Action of Etowah County is to effectively educate our community on the importance of financial health in regards to credit, loans, budgeting and savings goals. We aim to equip our community with the knowledge of spending and saving wisely in an effort to create a greater sense of security with respect to personal finances.

Employment Readiness Program
Do you need employment but need help obtaining the necessary documents? We have partnered with Etowah Baptist Missions Center to administer “The Employment Readiness Program.“ This program assists potential employees in obtaining the required documents, such as a Driver’s License, Identification Card, Social Security Card, and Birth Certificate, for employment. Come by our offices for a referral to schedule your appointment.
